Born in Milan to an Italian mother and a South African father, Eric's father's origins strongly influence his upbringing, as also frequent periods spent in South Africa in Johannesburg.
Already at a tender age Eric shows a strong attraction to the world of the theatre and cinema, not unlikely due to the vein of art and show business which runs in the family, his father a composer, his aunt an actress and his uncle an orchestra conductor.
At 17 a decisive move. Eric leaves for the United States where he stays for nearly a year. It is in this period that he has the possibility to come into contact with musical theatre, prose and so many people that still today are present in his life.
Back in Italy, while finishing high school, Eric prepares for the entrance exams to the actors academy in Milan, the elite "Filodrammatici" , where he is accepted on a scholarship with nine other young men for a three year course of fundamental artistic preparation.
The Acadamy behind him, Eric enters various theatrical companies and begins to travel the whole of Italy: Besides the major theaters of Bolzano, Rome, and Bologna, Eric works with several different theatrical companies together with great actors such as George Albertazzi, Lella Costa, Johnny Dorelli, Marisa Fabbri…
In an intensive workshop at the New York Film Academy in 1999 Eric gets his chance to produce and direct his first short film -"Why Caged Birds Sing".
"Why caged Birds Sing", based on Eric's own screenplay, is still today used by the New York Film Academy as an example of what can be achieved through its workshops and teaching.
Back in Italy Eric begins to combine his work in the theatre with an increasing amount of over-voicing for cinema and television. A short step later he is also in high demand for over-voicing in the TV advertising market.
But behind all this activity Eric is still working on film-making. In 2001 he makes his second short film - "Even the sun sets" with a cast of highly professional Italian actors and Ottavia Piccolo at her best. "Even the sun sets" brings Eric numerous prizes and is acclaimed by both public and critics.
In 2002 Eric becomes member of the board of directors of the ADC group, a Milan based company renowned for quality film dubbing.
2003 Brings the completion of Eric's full-length screenplay "Dubble", started three years previously. "Dubble" is the story of two brothers in a conflicting situation. One an actor, the other a writer, both work in the Milan dubbing scene. Today Eric has begun writing his second screenplay and is doing the research work for a third.
In 2005 is engaged by producer Michele Castellano to direct TUFFI. Short film entirely shot in Genova. The film is now touring in festivals throughout Italy.
True to his acting origins, even with a full schedule of gratifying work on stage, television and over-voicing, Eric spends what would be his "free moments" working hard with a a great professional team towards achieving his future projects. |
